Serialised, not series

April 17, 2010

In the last post, I was of course talking about serialised novels rather than novel series a la ‘The Tomorrow Series’ or sequels.  Is the series/sequel phenomenon a blot on the bookscape?  Not as it is in the film world.  (Who can name a film sequel that was better than the first in the series, unless it was following some novel series like Harry Potter anyway?)  Pimp My Novel is sick of series and links to a recent small rant about serial novellism in the Sydney Morning Herald.
